Cricket News 2024: ODI Debut Looms for Quick After Aussie Call-Up

Rising star Connor Quick has been called up to the Australian ODI squad for the upcoming series against India, and is in line to make his debut in the opening match in Sydney.

Quick, a 21-year-old fast bowler, has impressed selectors with his performances for Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield, and was named in the Australia A squad for their recent tour of India.

The right-armer has taken 25 wickets in 10 first-class matches at an average of 22.28, and has also shown his ability to bat, with a highest score of 52.

Quick's call-up is a reward for his consistent performances, and he is now in line to make his ODI debut in front of his home crowd in Sydney.

Australia are without several key players for the series against India, including Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, so Quick could be given his chance to impress.

The young quick will be hoping to make the most of his opportunity and cement his place in the Australian ODI team.

If Quick does make his debut, he will become the youngest player to represent Australia in an ODI since Ashton Agar in 2013.

The first ODI between Australia and India will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground on March 1.
